Day 6 Friday
Either ride around Keuka Lake (45 or 58 miles) or ride to some wineries or rest.
The ride around Keuka Lake is one of the favorite rides for local cyclists in the Finger Lakes region, because the distance and terrain are the most reasonable, and the proximity of the route to the lake cannot be bettered.
Ride around the complete lake, including its Bluff Point, a ride of ~57 miles. Bluff Point has a wonderful view looking south. Or ride the ~44 mile option, which skips the Bluff Point area. Lots of short, rolling hills with one additional climb at Bluff Point (only 300 ft.).
Branchport and Pen Yan are mid-way locations for a rest breaks. The corner general store in Branchport should not be missed!
The east coast of Keuka Lake has a small road that comes back and forth to Rt. 54, the main, busier road. It is worth finding its many entrances, which we’ve tried to mark on the cue sheet, as it is more scenic and shaded, with less traffic than the main road.
Later, visit the Glenn Curtiss Museum of Early Aviation or stroll downtown. Or relax by the lake.
We’ve arranged a final group dinner, to celebrate our rides together. We are taking a dinner cruise on The Keuka Maid, the largest of the dinner boats on the Finger Lakes. The Keuka Maid loads passengers between 5:30 and 6:20 pm, and sails at 6:30. Don’t miss the boat!
The cruise circles Keuka Lake while serving a range of meal selections. Alcoholic beverages are not included.
